Being a part of ACCESS will give you a unique experience, allow you the opportunity to network with other researchers, and give you the chance to discover valuable insights on how to get your research project rolling. Getting involved is easy.
Here’s a list of all the ways, to date, you can get involved with ACCESS:
Allocations
ACCESS Allocation Review Committee (AARC) – The Allocations team is looking for a diverse group of reviewers and is interested in experts from all disciplines, including social sciences, digital arts and humanities and STEM fields.
Volunteering for the AARC team will bring you a unique and informative experience. The AARC is composed of volunteer experts from the faculty and staff of U.S. universities, laboratories, and other non-profit and commercial research organizations. All members have expertise in at least one area of computational science or engineering and serve approximately three years, with the possibility of a one-time renewal. PI and co-PIs of ACCESS allocation awards may serve on the AARC. The AARC reviews requests for the Maximize ACCESS Accelerate ACCESS opportunities. You can sign on to review either or both types of proposals.

ACCESS Researcher Advisory Committee – The ACCESS Researcher Advisory Committee is exploring ways to ensure researcher perspectives are at the forefront of how ACCESS adapts and improves the advanced cyberinfrastructure ecosystem.

Metrics
Open XDMoD collaborators – Metrics is always looking for software developers and welcomes third-party collaboration. This team works with ACCESS XDMoD, built upon the open-source collaborative Open XDMoD software. ACCESS XDMoD stores information about the usage and performance of ACCESS resources and allows users to create reports based on this data. The information goes back to 2004 and has hundreds of gigabytes of historical data on cyberinfrastructure usage. Running reports on this software will allow researchers to create custom reports about their work for their teams and stakeholders to optimize performance.

Beta Testers – Metrics is also in charge of developing a data analytics utility that will give researchers access to the XDMoD database. They’ll need beta testers and partners who wish to collaborate on research projects to make the application as helpful as possible to researchers.

Operations
Resource Provider Forum – ACCESS wouldn’t exist without the Resource Providers lending their cyberinfrastructure (CI) to the project. Resource Providers are projects or organizations that provide CI services to the science and engineering community.

Student Training and Engagement Program (STEP) – STEP works to further community engagement, education and training efforts. Its goal is to encourage careers in cyberinfrastructure by providing students with training on marketable skills in the areas of operations, data and networking, and cybersecurity. STEP will focus on providing these opportunities to traditionally underrepresented groups to improve the diversity of the ACCESS program. STEP is intended for undergraduates or early-career graduate students with a goal to encourage careers in cyberinfrastructure.

Support
CCEP Selection Committee – The ACCESS Support team is looking to recruit reviewers for applications to the Computational Science & Support Network (CSSN) Community Engagement Program (CCEP). The CCEP is an exciting new travel grant initiative for students, faculty and staff. The time commitment is low, with just a few meetings a year, while the reward is high. You will receive $2,500 travel grant for participating and supporting our next generation of researchers and existing workforce.

MATCH-Plus Steering Committee – The steering committee guides outreach efforts, asynchronously reviews engagement requests and suitability of recommended students/mentors, checks progress with up to two concurrent engagement teams and participates in bi-weekly steering committee meetings and monthly meetings of engagement teams. Estimated time commitment is six hours per month, eligible for CCEP reward.

Estimated time commitment is six hours per month, eligible for CCEP reward.

Open OnDemand Working Group – The goal of this working group is to serve as a central location for stakeholders from ACCESS service areas, resource providers and researchers (i.e., users) to review proposed OnDemand activities within ACCESS and provide feedback.
